agave – us botanical garden – wdc


In 1996 while traveling the east coast for autumn photography I spent a few days visiting Washington DC and spent an afternoon at the US Botanical Garden near Capitol Hill. Its a series of greenhouses linked together and has sections devoted to many plant eco systems… I spent most of my time there photographing orchids and found these succulants just before closing time… I was rushed to make a few images of the agave… I like the lines that the plant makes and the shading present between the leaves…

    I’m away for half a day

    and when I come back here, I find another series of absolutely stunning things to look at Ed. It seems extraordinary is ordinary when it comes to beautiful creations for you – although I am mindful of how much work goes into them. Anyway, I am hooked and very much in awe.

    There is one thing though – if I may make a suggestion – For those of us who are still dial-up connected, your LJ page does take a very long time to download completely. As you know, my journal also contains a lot of art files (photographs) and I found it downloaded much faster when I reduced the number of entries per page. You may want to consider this…?
